iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Just Days Away From Public Release

iPhone 4S Jailbreak
If you’re the owner of an iOS device and you’ve been installing Apple’s latest software updates, you’ve probably been waiting for the latest untethered jailbreak for many, many months. But thankfully that wait is nearly over.
Chronic Dev Team member Pod2g has confirmed on Twitter that the latest iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak is “near ready for a release,” and that it is just a “matter of days” away from its public debut. Some believe the software will be launched at this year’s “Hack in the Box” conference, which kicks off today in Amsterdam.

Named “Absinthe 2.0,” the jailbreak will be the first major release since the original Absinthe software, which was the first to jailbreak the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2. Furthermore, almost every single iOS device will be supported, including:
  • Phone 3GS
  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 4 CDMA
  • iPhone 4S
  • iPad 1
  • iPad 2 Wifi
  • iPad 2 GSM
  • iPad 2 CDMA
  • iPad 3 Wifi
  • iPad 3 CDMA
  • iPod 3G
  • iPod 4G
Pod2g also noted that the second-generation Apple TV should also be supported, though it hasn’t been tested yet. The only device that isn’t supported by the hack, then, is the third-generation Apple TV.
If previous jailbreaks are anything to go by, you can expect the latest Absinthe release to hit the Mac initially, followed by releases for Windows and Linux machines a little later on.
Will you be using Absinthe 2.0 to jailbreak your iOS devices?
